Watching the Cubbies...

At just 12 weeks old, Drake already loves the Chicago Cubs! He got to watch a couple innings before going down for his nap this afternoon.
This is a look his daddy would give me..."Do you really need to take a picture of me?"

Shawn & Brandy's Wedding

This past weekend Jason, Drake, and I made a road trip to Tennessee for my cousin Shawn's wedding. I was a little worried about how the car ride would go since it was about a 6.5 hour drive, but Drake did wonderfully! We left early on Saturday morning, made two stops and got to the hotel mid-afternoon. The weather was pretty nasty most of the way there (rain and wind), but it ended up getting sunny with clear skies and beautiful!

We got back in the cars to the Tennessee/Kentucky border for the wedding...
Even Drake enjoyed the wedding.
Shawn & Brandy's son Spencer blowing bubbles and waiting for mom and dad to come out of the church.
We were able to keep Drake on his schedule which I was pretty surprised about. Hopefully our next trip will go just as well!

Busy Morning!

I took Drake to meet a group of ladies who have prayed for him for a long time. These ladies supported me throughout our infertility journey - through all of the treatments, our first pregnancy and miscarriage, and our pregnancy with Drake. I was really excited to be able to introduce him to God's miracle! They even prayed over him. :-) How special to hear others praying for your baby!

Jason's co-workers had a shower for us today! They were very excited to finally meet Drake. We had cake and got some wonderful gifts - clothes, swim outfit, disposable bibs/placemats, and Take or Toss containers.
Jason's co-worker made this cake...too cute!!

I certainly don't want to jinx myself, but I think we are progressing on the sleep. Drake has been sleeping 6-7.5 hours straight for the past five nights which means that he's only getting up once in the middle of the night! Great news for this momma since I'll be returning to work in just over a week (sniff, sniff). He's also been doing great at taking naps in his crib. I just swaddle him up, tell him I love him with a kiss, give him the paci and put him down. Sometimes he'll cry and I'll just put the paci back in, but then he usually goes to sleep.

2 Month Dr. Appointment

Drake had his two month well baby visit today. We were pretty excited to see how much he has grown, but we were not looking forward to his vaccines.
Our pediatrician said he looks great and was very pleased with how he is growing.

Weight - 10lbs 9.5ounces (21st percentile)
Length - 22.5 inches (27th percentile)

He had one oral vaccine and three shots. The nurse did a great job - She went very quickly and gave him a few cute bandaids. :-)
I fed him right after his appointment, and he settled down almost immediately. He slept for three hours, woke to eat, and then slept for another two hours this afternoon/early evening. I felt so bad for him because each time he woke up or moved around he started screaming like he was in pain. We gave him some infant Tylenol before his bath and bottle tonight so hopefully he'll sleep pretty good and feel a lot better tomorrow.

Drake meets Dr. J!

I have been wanting to take Drake to our RE's office so they could meet the wonderful miracle they helped bring into this world. Dr. J is only here twice a month, and I knew that if I didn't get there today I might not get there before I go back to work. I loaded Drake up this morning and headed East.
Wouldn't you agree that this man is in the right profession? He immediately took Drake out of my arms and was excited to meet him. The nurses (Theresa, Linda, Laura, & Lisa) got to meet him, too, but I didn't get any pictures of them holding him...oops! I know they were all very busy with other patients, so we're grateful for the time they spent with us.

I'd be lying if I didn't say that I was a little nervous about going to the office today. The biggest reason is that I didn't want another couple who is struggling with infertility to see my baby boy and get upset. Luckily, there was only one couple there, and I'm just hoping that they saw this baby as a reason to remain hopeful!

Jason and I are thankful to Dr. J and his staff for all they did for us (even though I'm really hoping I don't ever have to see them again.) :-)

The Zoo!

Okay, although Drake really didn't care about the zoo (He slept the entire time.), I had a great time! Two college friends/roommates and their kids came to town today. We headed our local zoo this morning and then had lunch. This was the first time we were able to get all three of us together with the kids. I'm sure next time will be interesting since all three will probably be on the move!
Addison & Hudson checking out the monkeys!
Our attempt at a picture of all three of them...even though you can't see Drake. :-) There is another picture of all 6 of us, but it wasn't taken on my camera. I'll add it to the post as soon as I get it. (hint, hint)

Drake's First Easter

What a beautiful Easter day! It was sunny and got up to about 70* today...although it was pretty windy. We went to church this morning - I worked in the nursery with 21 - 18-21month olds and Jason did security for the nursery while Drake went to his room for the first time. We were bummed to miss the actual church service, but we left to head north to meet my family for lunch at Red Lobster.
Family photo (Aren't those jeans just too cute?!)
Aunt Michelle, Uncle Jarrod, and Cousin Reid with Drake - Reid wasn't sure what to think about his momma holding another baby!

My parents trying to get a picture with two of their grandkids. Once we got my parents to look at the camera at the same time, Drake and Reid started fussing!

Two months

Dear Drake,

You are two months old on your Grandpa Williams' birthday! Time has gone so fast, and I'm sure I'll say that every month. You have changed so much over the past month, and I can't wait to see how you continue to grow and change.

You have become so much more alert! You will look us right in the eyes and follow us side-to-side. The playmat and bouncer seat are still some of your favorite places to be. You are starting to focus on the objects on both and will even "hit" the bird and monkey to hear the music! If daddy would bounce you all day, you would probably stay there!
The one place you don't love to sit is your swing. We keep trying it out, and you sat in it for about 20 minutes one day!! YEAH!
Now, you are holding onto things - your blanket, rattle, clothes and even grabbing hair.
(Thanks to blogger, this picture is turned! :-))

You enjoy your tummy time, but I need to be a little more diligent about doing it every day with you! :-)

We love to see you smiling at us and our family and friends who talk to you! That big gummy smile is so precious!
We have started using the Moby wrap, and you love it! You and I have gone on lots of walks this month - sometimes in the stroller and sometimes in the Moby. I'm hoping we can do a lot more before I go back to work.
Unfortunately, this month you have experienced baby acne and cradle cap. The baby acne is gone, but the cradle cap is still around. :-( You had your first stuffy nose and aren't too fond of the bulb syringe or the saline drops.

Sleep is still pretty inconsistent. We have developed a bedtime routine though. On bath nights (every other day), I give you your bath (which you LOVE!), swaddle you and then daddy gives you your bottle. On the other nights, I change and swaddle you and daddy gives you your bottle. We have been doing this starting about 8:00pm although we've started to move that a little earlier. You usually wake up between 1:00am and 2:00am and go right back to sleep for another 3-4 hours. During the day, you eat about every 3 hours and are only up for 1-2 hours at a time. You really like to take naps on my chest, but I know that won't work when you start going to Miss Alicia's so I'm starting to put you in your crib for daytime naps.

You're wearing size 1 diapers and size 0-3 months clothes. We put you on our scale at home last night and it said you were 10.8 pounds. Your two month well baby check is on Wednesday.
Happy two month birthday, Drake!!

Love,
Momma
