I really feel like I haven't had much to post in a while. This month has been super crazy for me at work - two week long conferences with crazy hours and Jason has been gone a lot for work and play! I'm still feeling tired and hungry all the time, but I feel like it is starting to get back to normal. Hopefully that is because we are getting close to the 2nd trimester - just a couple more weeks! Jason and I went out to eat and got groceries on Friday night and yesterday, he went to his god-daughter's birthday party while I went to a bridal shower for a friend.

I'm glad I saw this picture because I think that shirt looks horrible! It is just hanging on me...I won't be wearing that again. Tori and her fiance, Justin, are getting married in September at a resort in Punta Cana!

Today, I went to church, had breakfast with the neighbors, visited with Jason's sister, and watched the Cubbies get a win and take the lead in the NL Central! Now, I am enjoying the rest of my evening on the couch!

First OB Appointment - 11 weeks

Today was our first OB appointment! I was a little frustrated with how long it took, but in the end it went okay. I know this is why I always try to make appointments for first thing in the morning, but you take what you can get when you just want to see your baby! We got to the office at 9:45am when our appointment was scheduled, didn't get called back until 10:10am and then waited another 20 minutes for the nurse practitioner. Luckily, I didn't have to have an annual or blood drawn since my RE's office has done all of that in the past 6 months. She was about to let us leave when I asked about hearing the heartbeat since that is what I was told when I made the appointment. She explained that she didn't like doing it earlier than 12 weeks because a lot of times you can't hear it yet. But, she was willing to try...and that she did! I think I had almost a whole tube of gel on me! :-) Unfortunately, she wasn't able to pick it up, but that meant we got to have a quick ultrasound to confirm that things are okay! She had her 2nd son through IVF so I think she really understood that we just wanted to know everything was on track. I am so amazed at how much this little baby grows every two weeks! I couldn't see the ultrasound screen, but I could see Jason's eyes when she started so I knew everything was good to go. He/she is measuring right on track and the hearbeat today was 170!! The highest it has been!

We had a great weekend at our house even though Jason and I weren't together. He spent the weekend with the guys at Nascar race in Joliet while I spent the weekend with the girls at our house scrapbooking! I think we all got a lot done and, of course, plenty of girl talk, too! Thanks to everyone who came. I finished a book that I wanted to do for Jason's nephew, Caden and did what I could on a book of school pictures for my niece and nephew. I was up past midnight both nights and got up around 7am with the dog so once everyone left, I took a 2-hour nap! We had burgers on the grill last night and watched some tv before heading to bed.

There isn't too much exciting going on at our house this week. We'll be 10 weeks tomorrow so that is pretty exciting, but we still have one more week before we can hear that little heartbeat! I feel like I am wishing my life away between appointments, but I just want to know that everything is okay and can't wait!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Caden!!

Jason's nephew Caden is celebrating his 2nd birthday today! I can't believe he is already two years old. I remember the day we found out that Karen was expecting (Christmas Day) and the morning I got the call from Caleb that Caden was on his way! I finished getting ready for the day and went to the hospital to see him before I went to work (it was a Sunday, but I had a conference that week). He was one of the cutest babies I have seen and the youngest ever...about an hour old. (I can't say he was the smallest...that would have been my friend, Janell's son at less than 4 pounds!)

Here are a few pictures from our celebration of Caden's birthday last weekend.
I was pretty impressed that he could actually blow enough air to make the horn work. And, he actually kept the hat on this year! :-)

"Reading" his card.

Playing with the toy from us.
And, he blew out the candle without spitting all over the cake!

We are so glad he was feeling good at his birthday this year. We could even enjoy the cookout and some great play time with him (even though he wouldn't sit still long enough to get a picture with us!).

Update

I realized late last night that I didn't mention anything about the other two sacs we saw at our last ultrasound. The smallest of the sacs seems to have absorbed into my body and gone away. The 2nd sac is still there. You can see it on the left hand size of the ultrasound picture in the previous post. This sac is measuring at 6weeks and there is a yolk sac but no baby. I've still been told that this will either absorb into my body, or I will bleed it out. I'm really hoping for the absorb option! I know if I see blood that I shouldn't worry, but how can you not? Plus, I am stopping the progesterone next week so that could make me a little more nervous.

Now, I'm just waiting on a call from the nurse to confirm that I am graduated to my doctor here in town.

Ultrasound - 8wks 6days

It has been a busy day...I have two conferences going on this week at work and my intern is out of the office! Thankfully, my Assistant Director helped out with my group in the afternoon so I could leave for our appointment. The afternoon went great! We saw our baby right away when she started the ultrasound! I knew he/she would be about double in size, but I couldn't believe how big! It was so exciting to see the head, body, arm/leg buds, and the heartbeat! The nurse practitioner held the wand really still and we actually saw the baby move! It was so exciting!! The heartbeat was looking great, too....154 beats per minute. That's an increase from two weeks ago - boy or girl?! The baby is also measuring a couple days ahead at 9weeks 2days. I can't believe this is really happening!
