Check Up and More Visitors

The time is just flying by! I'm surprised that it's already been a week since my last post.

Things are still going pretty well. I had my 6-week check up with my doctor last Monday. The appointment went great. I've got 8 more pounds to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight (plus another 10 pounds)! I can still only fit into two pairs of my jeans, and I haven't tried on any of my dress pants. Tops don't fit the same as they used to either...a little snug everywhere! I'm really hoping at least the 8 pounds are gone and my dress clothes fit before I go back to work - FIVE weeks from today. :-(

I've started back on birth control pills which is SO strange for someone who is labeled as infertile! But, I am/was pretty nervous about magically becoming pregnant in the first months after having Drake since they say that this is a really fertile time. I would prefer that my children (if we're lucky enough to have another one) are more than a year apart.

We had a "play date"/lunch with my friend who's daughter is 5 weeks younger than Drake. I forgot my camera to get some pictures of them together, but Ayla is such a cutie!! It is really nice to have someone who was pregnant at the same time. It's been great to bounce thoughts/ideas off one another.

Drake had some visitors again this weekend -- the Beezhold's!
Claire
Sue
Paul

We had a great time visiting! (They used to live across the street from us until about 2 years ago.) Unfortunately, they had to go back home after dinner at Flat Top Grill - one of Paul's favorite restaurants.

Drake and I went to church on Sunday and then we just hung out at the house the rest of the day!

A Visit with Grandma & Grandpa Williams

Grandma & Grandpa Williams couldn't go too long without seeing baby Drake so they made the trip south for the weekend. Even though the weather wasn't nice enough to get outside for a walk, we had a nice weekend with my parents. We spent Friday evening just hanging out. We did a little shopping on Saturday and then came home to watch Marley & Me. Drake even enjoyed watching it!These are the best pictures I got of Drake with my parents...
(looking at the ceiling fan!)
They left this morning so we decided to head to church. Drake did great again! We haven't put him in the nursery yet, but we'll be doing that soon.

I have been trying to get a picture of a smiling Drake and finally caught one tonight!
Now, it's bath time! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Tummy Time!

We have been doing a little tummy time every day. It's amazing how much stronger Drake is getting each day.

Here's what he was doing on March 3rd - just 12 days ago:

And, here's what he is doing now!

Way to go, Drake!! Momma is SO proud!

What we've been up to!

I have been such a bad blogger! Things have been so busy since my last post.

We had a visit from one of my college friends who is married to one of Jason's friends and their one-year old daughter. And, a visit from my co-worker and her family (This is her 5-year old daughter holding Drake).
We went to church for the first time since Drake was born. Jason worked security in the kids area while Drake and I went to the service. He did great! I fed him before we left, and he slept through almost all of the service. I was a little worried once the band started playing, but Drake didn't even flinch. I think he really liked it!

We've been enjoying time on the playmat...In the bouncer...
And hanging out together...
Our good friend, Mary Beth, visited us all the way from Arizona! (Okay, she was in town for work, but she came by to meet Drake.) :-) We have even ventured out quite a bit lately - errands and lunch with friends on Thursday, Friday, and today! And, I think we might have our first cold on our hands...Drake has a stuffy nose! :-(

One Month

Dear Drake,

Your daddy and I wanted you for such a long time that it's hard to believe you have been here for a whole month already!! We love you so much and are excited to watch you change and grow each and every day. You are truly a blessing from God!

You have been a great eater from birth. We have had no problems with breastfeeding and you'll even take a bottle of formula. I'm grateful because your daddy gets to have that bonding time with you, too. You're eating every 2-3 hours (although as I type this, I think you may be going through a growth spurt because you want to eat all.the.time.). You take the pacifier sometimes, but you have also found your thumb!

Sleep has been quite a variable lately. You have had stretches of up to 5 hours between feedings at night but also had nights like last night when you slept only in 45 minute increments. The first week of being home was spent in the pack and play bassinet by our bedside, but you've been in your crib since then.

Your daddy thinks you smile at us, but I know it's just gas. :-)

Tummy time is getting better each day. Today, you were on your belly for quite a while and even lifted your head a little bit. You are so strong. You like to stretch your legs and push yourself up when you are laying on daddy's and my chests.
You enjoyed the sponge baths, but now that your umbilical cord stump has fallen off you really like your "real" bath! You get a bath every 2-3 days and especially like when I wash your hair. I think you enjoy the head massage as much as I do!

During your awake time, you are starting to like the bouncer seat, but you still aren't sure about the swing. You'll stay in it for about 5 minutes before you start getting upset.

You are still wearing newborn size diapers and mostly newborn size clothes although some 0-3 month onesies/sleepers fit.

You still have your blue eyes and daddy and I think they will stay that color. Your hair is a light brown with some tints of red. I'm interested to see what color it will end up being. You have a birth mark on the back of your head - a hemangioma - just like your momma! We've tried to get a picture of it, but it doesn't turn out very well. You'll never know you even have it unless, of course, you want to shave your head like your daddy! lol! You also have dimples which totally surprised me! We don't see them very often, but they are there when you "smile."
Happy one month birthday, Drake!
I love you!
