Today went pretty well! We drove to Indy last night since we needed to be at the hospital at 6:45am. Once we got the hospital, and I was called back things went quickly. The nurse got the paperwork signed, I got changed, the IVF lab rep came in to discuss what they were going to do, and then the anesthesiologist came in. Funny story here...he asked Jason if he was my ride. If you know my husband, at all, his response won't surprise you, but it had us all laughing! He said, "Yes, and I'll drive her home, too!" Go figure, never a servious moment with him. The anesthesiologist also mentioned that I looked familiar. I told him, "No" and that I hopefully won't have to see him again. (not being mean, just praying that this time works) He was very nice.
After this, I was surprised that Dr. Jarrett, himself, wheeled me to the OR. I walked in, got on the table, and the last thing I remember was the nurse putting the blood pressure cuff on. I woke up 20 minutes later back in the first room, and Jason walked in.
He told me they got 6 eggs. I will admit that I was a little disappointed. I had hoped for a few more, but also prayed that God would allow them to retrieve exactly what we needed. I know it only takes one, but it still would have been reassuring to have more.
So, now, we pray that they are being fertilitzed and growing exactly how they should! I'll have more to update tomorrow. For now, I think I am going to take a nap!

April-Been thinking of you all day-hoping that your retrieval went well. For my retrieval, I had seven eggs and I remember being upset, thinking that I had 11 that looked mature on the u/s. What happened to those other ones? But then two of those seven eggs became two healthy embryos which resulted in two babies. Don't be disappointed. You only need one. I will be checking in. My prayers are definitely going your way! And to your little embryos-Grow, baby, grow!
i cant believe you are bloggin right after retrieval! glad to hear the report though, 4 is great! like you said, you only need one. quality is more important than quantity!
I know of someone who had 6 retrieved and was pregnant with twins. Like Hoping For Our Own Peanut said, it's quality, not quantity. I'm thinking of you!!
i've been thinking about you all day. i know it's disappointing to have only six retrieved, but like everyone else has said, it only takes one! i hope your transfer goes smoothly and that you get your bfp!
Yeah! 6 eggs is great! God is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine! Praying for you BFP!
I think 6 is a great number! I had 6 with my first IVF and now have a perfect almost 4 year old! Congrats on the 6!
You're right it only takes ONE! I hope things go well. I will check back tomm. to see.
I didn't know you lived in Indy. (or near Indy). I live in Broad Rippple. :) I go to Dr. Donahue right now and I used to go to Dr. Cline (but he was not so good). My hairdresser got pregnant first try with Dr. Jarrett with one egg. Where abouts do you guys live? We need more friends. (sorry if I sound like a crazy stalker)
6 is a wonderful number! I'm so happy that everything went well. I'm praying they all fertilize.
I love that you took pictures...we always do and I know that one day, we will be happy to have those pics. :)
((HUGS))
Sounds like success! Can't wait to hear what happens next. Praying for you guys. So glad Jason was there to give you a ride ;)
I stumbled on your blog and wanted to let you know that my twins were conceived via IVF with Dr. Jarrett! We did the Carle thing too. I also have several friends who were patients of his and all have babies/children through his work. That man is good! I am praying for you guys.
