We had
a great 4th of July this year. The morning started with a pool party at our house - it's been in the low 100s here for the past week so we knew having our party in the morning would be smart since it would already be so warm. The water temp was actually in the lower 90s, but it was still refreshing.
Drake and I made a "fruit flag" which was gone in about 5 seconds! Apparently, kids want to eat fruit when they are on skewers. :-)
Drake swam in the pool for 4 hours with a huge thanks to our friends for watching him and making sure he ate lunch when I was with Colin or Jason was grilling food. He is doing amazing with the puddle jumper! He hasn't had it on since our Florida trip back in March and he was swimming all over the pool with it and did not want to be touched. ;-)
Colin took some short naps in the chair or our arms. :-)
After everyone left, we all took a nap before heading to our friend's house to hang out before the fireworks. There were a ton of shows canceled around here because we haven't had rain and the grass is just too dry. Luckily, the show close to our house was still going. This was Drake's first experience with the fireworks and he didn't really pay attention to them too much.
It was a long day, and I was horrible about taking pictures (poor Colin!). Hopefully the next holiday will go a little better in the picture taking area.
Hope you all enjoyed your Independence Day, too!
